Barbara Squires

It is an honor to have been appointed as the fourth Executive Director of such an amazing organization. I joined the staff in October 2019 and love interacting with our trainees, volunteers, and staff as well as seeing our customers and donors. 

Having spent over 25 years working in various non-profit organizations, CentrePeace was like coming home. My previous work experience includes work in a drug/alcohol rehab center, mental health facility, and a rural emergency medical training organization. 

I was born and raised in metro Kansas City, Missouri and have lived in Centre County since October 2019. My family includes my husband, Reid, my two sons, and their families including 5 grandchildren, a stepson, a stepdaughter and her husband, as well as one incredibly spoiled Boxador named Sadie. I love working on genealogies, reading, singing and playing games! 

I love working at CentrePeace helping our trainees prepare for reentry. My vision for CentrePeace is to increase the different types of job skills training that we offer as well as integrating a principle-centered approach to problem solving in their personal lives. Part of this training includes Steven Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” Since the store is closed on Monday we are able to focus on spending time, one-on-one, with the trainees.
