Community Service – A Place to Serve, Reflect, and Grow
CentrePeace offers more than a place to fulfill court-ordered community service—it offers a place to begin again. Volunteers assist with essential tasks in our store, supporting daily operations and contributing to our restorative mission. But as they work, many encounter something deeper: perspective.
Through their time at CentrePeace, individuals begin to reflect on the choices that led them here. They see firsthand the consequences of unresolved behaviors and the reality that, without change, incarceration could be part of their future. But they also discover that change is possible. That service can be redemptive. That even a court mandate can become a turning point.
What Community Service Volunteers Say
“When I arrived at CentrePeace, I was scared. I sat in my car and cried. I was embarrassed, ashamed, and not sure how I would be treated. They never asked me what I did and were kind to me. I learned so much while I was there. I’ve lived in Centre County all my life and didn’t know what this place really was. I thought because of all the medical equipment out front that it was a medical supply store. Boy, was I wrong. I love this place and I will be a regular customer and donor now. I also bought quite a few items before I left. I love the treasures I found.”
Restoration in Action
This program is more than compliance—it’s an invitation to transformation. A chance to serve with dignity, reflect with honesty, and grow with purpose.
This is the heart of CentrePeace: restoration not just of behavior, but of belonging, identity, and the belief that every person can choose a better path.
