Grace in Action

Open door policy for meeting urgent needs with dignity and compassion

Grace in Action: Honoring Marie Hamilton’s Legacy of Unconditional Support
Grace in Action is more than a program—it’s a promise. It honors our founder, Grace Marie Hamilton, whose compassion is boundless. Her parents named her “Grace,” and she has lived up to every definition of the word. Yet, in her humility, she prefers to be called Marie.

Marie’s legacy is woven into the very fabric of CentrePeace. She believed that restoration should never be limited by geography or circumstance. That’s why Grace in Action exists: to ensure that every individual is met with dignity, compassion, and practical support.

Whenever someone comes into our store with a need that can be met by the items we sell—such as furniture, household goods, or other essentials—we provide those items at no cost. A member of our management team meets personally with them to understand their situation and determine the most appropriate way we can offer support.

What Recipients Say
“My employer brought me to CentrePeace. I had been in prison for a while and was sleeping on the floor with only a blanket and pillow. He had heard that CentrePeace would help me. When I arrived, I explained who I was and where I came from, and asked if they had a sleeping bag I could have. The staff was amazing. Instead, I left with a bed, blankets, a coffee pot, towels—and deep gratitude for these people.”

This story is a living example of Grace in Action—no paperwork, no prerequisites, just compassion. It’s restoration without borders, and a reminder that dignity begins with being seen, heard, and helped. The Management Team has the ability to extend Grace in Action beyond incarceration.

Restoration Without Borders: Grace in Action is CentrePeace’s open-door policy for restoration. It’s a living tribute to Marie’s belief that everyone deserves a second chance—and the tools to make it real.
